The very name of this Club Night reflects its program: Independent and detached of a common standard, the Resident DJs Ulli & Maesoo found the perfect mix between indie and dance music.

The first edition of Indiependance took place in Zurich's renowned Abart Club in April 2005 and back then it was a complicated undertaking to combine the two entirely self-contained scenes Indie and Dance in one Party.

In autumn 2006, when the term Nu Rave came up in London, the concept began to have an effect on the scene in Zurich and helped putting the Indiependance Club Night where it belongs: In the spotlight of the party scene. Nu Rave was simply another name for the concept of Indiependance, others are disco-punk, indie-rave or disco-rock. At the end of the day, the point is to fuse the danceable rhythms of electronic music with the power of indie rock. And even the sound of indiependance became more electronic this sexy urban mix will keep the dancefloors hot and busy for many more years!

Bereits der Name dieser Club Night widerspiegelt das Programm: Losgelöst und unabhängig (independent) von gängiger Konvention wird hier gekonnt Indie mit Dance vermischt.

Im April 2005 fand die erste Ausgabe der Indiependance im Zürcher Abart Club statt. Anfänglich war es für die beiden Resident DJ's Ulli & Maesoo schwierig, die zwei völlig eigenständigen Szenen Indie und Dance an einer Party zu vereinen.

Als im Herbst 2006 in London der Begriff Nu Rave entstand, begann das Konzept zu fruchten und plötzlich stand die Indiependance Club Night im Mittelpunkt des Geschehens. Nu Rave war auch einfach eine andere Bezeichnung für die Idee hinter Indiependance. Weitere Umschreibungen für den Sound: Disco-Punk, Indie-Rave oder Disco-Rock. Schlussendlich geht es immer darum, den tanzbaren Rhythmus der elektronischen Musik mit der Energie des Indie-Rock zu verschmelzen. Und auch wenn der Sound der Indiependance über die Jahre elektronischer wurde; dieser sexy urbane Mix wird noch lange Zeit für viel Bewegung auf den Tanzflächen der heissen Clubs sorgen!

Zwischenzeitlich dürfen Ulli & Maesoo neben der monatlichen Indiependance Club Night auch auf viele weitere Auftritte ausserhalb des Abarts zurück blicken. Hier die Highlights:
